Head of Philanthropy– World Vision New Zealand        


An exciting opportunity exists for a Head of Philanthropy to join New Zealand's largest international humanitarian organisation - World Vision. Employing 80 staff and a large volunteer base, last year alone, we helped 2.9 million children across 23 countries around the world.

The Head of Philanthropy is responsible for delivering on an aggressive growth plan through motivational leadership and proven ‘high net worth’ relationship management experience. This role will inspire and empower the team to deliver with a ‘can do’ attitude of continuous improvement and measurement. In doing so you will help improve the lives of millions of vulnerable children around the world – what more motivation would you need?!

Responsibilities are outlined on the job description; here is a summary.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Engage and motivate a team throughout New Zealand of dedicated managers to create a fun and enthusiastic culture
  • Provide direction and growth plans to all key Philanthropy teams; Major Donors, Middle Donors and Gifts in Wills
  • Lead weekly team income (sales) meetings and track performance, guiding and mentoring team members towards best practice, and managing optimal donor cycles, experiences and engagements
  • Manage and champion processes and systems to gain measurability, continuous improvement and growth
  • Develop, agree, and deliver on an annual income budgets and monthly targets with the Director of Marketing and Engagement.
  • Build and develop a high performing and focused Philanthropy team, with the support of the wider Marketing and Engagement team and resources.
  • Provide weekly reporting and updates to the Director of Marketing & Engagement and wider teams
  • Champion segmentation and analytics to ensure optimal focus and results for your teams.

 


What we're looking for:


  • Senior fundraising or sales experience, ideally in major gift fundraising or alternatively national sales management.
  • Proven experience in delivering on strategies and sales
  • A data driven leader with proven knowledge of using donor (customer) segmentation, analytics and modelling for call cycles, tiered servicing and optimizing effectiveness.
  • Proven experience in leading, inspiring, managing, motivating and focusing
  • Strong experience on systems, reporting, processes and follow-through.
  • A networker and public speaker who can influence, and demonstrate by example how to solicit high value
  • Personal values strongly aligned with World Vision’s. A heart for World Vision’s
  • A relevant degree-level
