Church Relationship Manager – Chinese & Upper North Island


World Vision New Zealand is the largest international humanitarian organisation in New Zealand, employing 80 staff and a large volunteer base. Last year alone, we helped 2.9 million children across 23 countries around the world.

A new role has come up within our Church Partnerships team based in Auckland and working with a focus on Chinese church congregations.

 

We are looking for a person with excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to nurture a passion for the mission of World Vision with the NZ Chinese and the wider Christian community. Tenacity and a drive for results are crucial as is the ability to use creative approaches to engaging potential and existing donors.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Engage with Chinese language church leaders across New Zealand.
  • Engage with English language church leaders across the Upper North Island, in particular Auckland.
  • Fundraising in Chinese and English language churches across NZ.
  • Public speaking, including preaching in churches.
  • Translating certain church campaign collateral into Mandarin and Cantonese.

 

Frequent domestic and some international travel required. Some weekend and evening work to accommodate supporter schedules.

 

Here’s what you’ll need:

 

  • 3-5 years’ experience in church life and leadership either as a volunteer or employee.
  • A mature understanding of Christianity.
  • Chinese language skills, particularly Mandarin and Cantonese.
  • Strong communication skills including written and oral English, Mandarin and Cantonese. The role also includes plenty of public speaking.
  • Commercial experience in account management or sales would be an advantage.
