An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced PR and social professional to join our team on a 10-month maternity contract.

Sitting within our External Affairs team, the Media Advisor – PR & Social role is responsible for leading the PR strategy, and delivery, for what is New Zealand’s largest youth fundraising event, the World Vision 40 Hour Famine, as well as our Smiles Mother’s Day and Christmas campaigns.

This role too is responsible for bringing World Vision New Zealand to life across our multiple social media channels, supporting key campaign and brand outcomes. From developing the strategy to the day-to-day roll out of content through to monitoring performance, you will own all aspects of our social strategy. You will also have the chance to leverage our external creative agencies to produce additional, compelling video and photo content, as and where needed.

Great at building and maintaining relationships, you will be comfortable and confident engaging with high profile New Zealand celebrities, influencers and media personalities throughout the year, you will have a knack for identifying talent to align with campaigns – and getting them onboard.

In this role you will not only write media releases and pitch creative ideas to relevant outlets, you’ll also write opinion pieces, social media and influencer packs and more.

To be successful in this role, you will have the following:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (marketing, journalism or communications)
  • Minimum of at least 3-5 years' experience as a PR/Social Media professional
  • Proven experience in executing high-profile PR and social projects, including a portfolio of successfully planned, executed and evaluated PR and social media campaigns or equivalent
  • Excellent knowledge of the New Zealand media landscape and an ability to identify news stories
  • Excellent communications and copywriting skills and editorial judgement - ability to write, edit and proof-read quality written content
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop high quality relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Knowledge of social media industry best-practices and experience with social analytics tools and content management systems
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
